What’s your stance on the Buffer Rules?

Everyone has an opinion about the current Buffer Rules on the Catawba River Basin. Ask the landowners and they will tell you it is too strict. Ask the fisherman, they would say the water/fish need to be protected. Ask the environmentalist and they say NO to changing the rules.

My opinion is that a buffer needs to be in place but maybe not so restrictive. Some counties make it more stict by imposing a 65-100 foot setback instead of the 50' norm. For purchasers of lake property, their question is always "Why did the next door neighbor get the good view while I would have to leave all these trees in my view?"

You can find a copy of the current rules here then tell your NC Senator how you feel about changing the river system.
