Taylorsville
In the northern part of the Greater Hickory Metro you'll find Taylorsville with an approximate population of 2200 residents in about 2.5 square miles. Taylorsville is the county seat of Alexander county (264 square miles) which also hosts Hiddenite, a town famous for the Carolina Emperor, an 18.88-carat pear-shape cut emerald. If you are looking for the best tasting apples, you're in the right place. Just north of Taylorsville, apple orchards cover the foothills of the Brushy Mtns. Though these rolling hills were noted previously for moonshine and bootlegging, Taylorsville is home to the most equisite furniture and fabrics.
