Hickory
Hickory, NC (pop. 41,000) is in Western NC within the four counties of Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba with Lake Hickory of the Catawba River System cutting through the middle of the area. Industries include manufacturing, medical, construction, and technology, to name a few.
Hickory is best known for its furniture manufacturing and is home to over 1.5 million square feet of furniture shopping space. The area is also known for Face Jugs from our clay soil and Catawba Valley potters. A date center corridor stretches along Highway 321 from the Apple facility in Maiden north to the Google facility in Lenoir.
The City of Hickory is creating space for all to enjoy the area on foot or on bikes from Lenoir-Rhyne University through Downtown Hickory to Lake Hickory then to LP Frans Stadium (home to Crawdads baseball) and to Hickory Aviation Museum. 2023 is the Year of the Trail in North Carolina.
The Greater Hickory Metro has an array of cultural amenities including art galleries, national and regional on-stage shows, music, and theatre.
