Stock Market vs Real Estate Market

Like all of us trying to make our dollars go farther and afford us a more comfortable living, we'll look at the real estate market in WNC. Real estate can be a smart way to divisify our portfolios. The stock market has made us a bit wary of its volatility while real estate has grown slowly year over year since the crash of 2008 and is returning to its original money-making status. In western NC, we have the Catawba River System which begins on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains in McDowell County and flows east, then south to the North Carolina-South Carolina border. Lakes James, Rhodhiss, Hickory, Lookout Shoals, Norman, Mountain Island and Wylie comprise the hydro-electric dam waterways. Each lake offers different amenities. Lake James is deep water with sloping lots and as you travel east and south, the land eases out of the foothills of the Appalachians to a more level playing field.
