Cold Front Cools off Fishing
The weather slowed the catfish bite at the N.C. Catfish Association Tournament Series event Saturday at Lake Hickory. Dennis Leonard of Stanley and Chris Fraley of Mt. Holly won with five cats totaling 38.7 pounds and banked $150. Kevin Custer of Statesville and Omar Edwards of Claremont finished second with five fish weighing 36.0, winning $60. Corey Armes and Jody Stamper took the big-fish award of $70 with a 14.3-pound blue cat, the first blue to be caught at a NCCATS event at Hickory. They also claimed the side pot worth $120.
