Cornelius

Cornelius in Mecklenburg county was incorporated in 1905 and named for Joseph Cornelius who had the foresight and funds to build a cotton mill where it wouldn't be washed away by the muddy rains of the nearby town of Davidson. Seventy miles of waterfrontage on Lake Norman's southeastern shore is shared with this city offering recreational activities year round.
